I have had the great honor and privilege of being a pastor for over 35 years in 3 different churches. Before being a Pastor, I served as Youth for Christ Director.
The Lord called me to Pinecrest in 1986 where I am currently the Senior Pastor. In addition to the pastoral ministry at the church, I have had the the privilege of serving as Police Chaplain with the Portsmouth Police Department for 24 years. I am a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains.
Currently, I am the Track Chaplain at Langley Speedway, the President of Motor Sports Ministries, a member of Raceway Ministries, and a short track consultant with Motor Racing Outreach. Another outreach ministry that the Lord has provided for me is writing an article with Motor Sports Magazine entitled Chaplains Corner.
The Bible verse I have chosen for my life's verse is "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain." (Philippians 2:16) The vision statement for my life is "to reach out each day and make a positive difference in someone's life in the name of Christ by making their day a little bit brighter and their load a little bit lighter."
I am originally from Harford County Maryland. I was blessed to have worked as a student ministries intern in Orlando, Florida then on to Wake Forest, North Carolina where I attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have been working with Student’s since 2002 and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. God has taught me so much about His love and grace through the students that I have been able to work with.
I am married to my beautiful wife Amy, (we were high school sweethearts), and we have three amazing kids. Jason is 10 and he loves his video games, Allyson is 6 and she wants to grow up to become Hannah Montana, and Dylan is 2 and very busy. My hobbies are hanging out with students every chance I get and coaching men’s lacrosse. I have been coaching high school lacrosse for the last 9 years. I also played lacrosse year round in Maryland almost all through my school years.
If you are willing to come and check out our student ministry you will see that we are all about Jesus!!!.
Grew up attending Fairview Heights Baptist Church where, at the age of twelve, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior.
I met my future wife, Vivian, seven years later and began attending Central Baptist Church were she had been a member all of her life. We have one daughter, Amber Wilder, who is a graduate of Liberty University. She resides in Orlando, Florida with her husband, Nathan, a pastor and a graduate of Florida State University and their son, Reese. My wife and I reside in the Western Branch part of Chesapeake known as David's Mill.
I was Music Director at Central Baptist church for the last two years we attended there, averaging 30-35 in the choir and about 15 in the orchestra. When we first came to Pinecrest in 1999, I worked with the Youth Choir until the position of Music Director came open and I applied. I have been Music Director at Pinecrest since August of 2000.
We have recently combined all the creative arts ministries into one ministry call Highest Praise Ministries. No matter what the age, we have something just for you. Come, check us out and put to use the talent God has given you.
Love in Christ,
